Black Lives Matter Seattle-King County’s Washington State Rapid Response Program for Community and Police Violence is a collaborative, community-driven initiative designed to address and mitigate the impacts of gun violence and police violence across the state. This program brings together local governments, law enforcement, advocacy groups, and community organizations to provide swift and coordinated responses to violent incidents, with a focus on preventing further harm, ensuring accountability, and promoting long-term safety and justice.
Establishing a community-led statewide Rapid Response network offers a solution that connects individuals and families impacted by community violence and police violence with a hotline, alert systems, and a trained support team to guide them through these crises with wrap-around services. By equipping families with media training and narrative tools, we empower them to reclaim their loved ones' stories, counteracting harmful narratives that often arise about Black and Brown communities.
